Funny day today. Was at Lido hanging out with a couple of friends, and had some friendly matches of Magic and we got approached by strangers twice. And both are not good encounters of course. First was this lady who came down and sat with us, and chitchatted a bit. Then she mentioned that she is an agent for this brand of perfume (can't remember the name liao) and tested on us. So we were trying very hard to tell her we 3 guys aren't interested in getting perfume, but she just doesn't get the hint. Later the security guard popped over and asked what's she doing, and warned her she not supposed to do this here, and she goes, "I'm just chatting with friends what."
To us, she's a nuisance to the progress of our game.
Then there were this three caucassian teenage girls...look like 13 or 14 years old. Came over, asked us if we were playing with Pokemon cards. "It's Magic the Gathering," my friend answered, looking highly insulted. I can tell that in his head, the reply was more like "It's Magic the Gathering you blind morons"...(which he confirmed later as an accurate guess). Then they started asking us for money. Loose change. Anything that we can give them, saying that they got no money to go home and they live dunno where. We just ignored them of course.
In my mind, I thought that in my knowledge I have not come across caucassian kids who are so poor they have to beg. So we just bochup them. Then they started saying things like 'if you can afford these cards then you can give us some money what' and 'you must be quite rich'. You know the funny thing? They had money to buy drinks from Macdonald's, which they carried in their hands, and no money to go take a bus? (Note that they asked us for change for CAB FARE). We still ignored them and they started swearing at us. We just pointed at their drinks and they left looking embarrassed. I think they are not that dumb lah huh?
Moral of the story: don't hang out at Lido 5th floor too long. Attracts all sorts of weirdos.

This week must be a week of blessings. Don't know why but God seemed to have thrown in some blessings along my way.
Last tuesday, my classmate treated me to Sakae Sushi, saying that I helped him a lot in the schoolwork. We were project mates, and I guess I did put in a lot of effort into the projects. For some strange reason I became the driving force, and leader, of my various project groups...which is weird, because I usually like to take the back seat.
Then Wednesday I called into WKRZ and won a $50 hamper from BMG, which was also a blessing. Since I liked one of the CDs given out. A new album from Kosheen, a breakbeat kinda dance group. Never mind if you don't know what I'm talking about. If you do, good for you. You are a rare gem.
Then today, I went down to Suntec to the Mirrodin prerelease tournament. Mirrodin is the latest expansion in the Trading Card Game Magic the Gathering. I decided to buy 2 booster packs (consisting of 15 cards, out of which is 1 rare, 3 uncommon and 11 common cards) for the fun of it, for 5 bucks each. Then I got two foil rares! Eh...there are only a few good rares, and the probability of getting a good one in one booster is about 1 in maybe 30 or 40...and a foil is a shiny version which is even rarer. So I curiously went to ask how much they are worth. So one was worth 5 and the other 35 bucks! All the traders were cursing and swearing about how lucky I am etc etc, so I traded my 35 buck rare foil for a non-foil version of the same card (10 bucks), and earned 25. Minus my initial 10 bucks, I made 15 bucks! Woohoo! Hahahah...of course, that only covered the cost of other cards...keke.

I've spent the past 3 days at ACS Barker Road for my school experience. Some kind of immersion program where I sit in classes to observe how the teachers teach. It's been interesting to see first-hand what goes on in the classroom, now from the teacher perspective. (Thoughts like "was I that bad then?" frequently popped into my head.)
The kids are rowdy (as I was before), and quite fun overall. Today some kid let loose pepper spray in the corridor (he was caught of course) and I unknowingly was caught in it. Powerful stuff there man. Eyes were watering, nose was running, throat was hurting. No wonder it's a defense tool for the ladies.
The school's cool in my estimation. It has a billards club! Woohoo...I will try to start one in the school I end up in eventually too...keke...
On my way home, I won something from WKRZ 91.3 fm radio station. Some BMG hamper or something like that. Cool. At first I called at wrong time, thought the contest was over. Then I heard the song play, and I thought 'maybe it should be now', and I called. I got through on the first try! Adds a nice happy feeling to my long day.

Today is an interesting occasion...project CRuSH celebrated its 2 year birthday at Singapore Management University earlier on. It's amazing how things have come along so far. Feels good to be appreciated for my time ementoring in the forums, but then again, I do it for the fun of it, so maybe not that deserving. Hahaha...
The more important occasion was my 2 year anniversary with my girlfriend! Also come a long way. Amazing how time passes leh. Because we got together on the eve of the Sep 11 disaster, and the twin towers attack still feels fresh, so by association, I didn't feel that my relationship has moved thus far...but it has.
Wanted to go for a big buffet at M Hotel, heard it's really really good. Was looking forward to it for long long time. Went time, found the restaurant quite empty. Went to check then realized that the buffet thing is only on weekends. Wah seh, so disappointed. Bo bian lor, have to go elsewhere. In the end went to Sakae Sushi for dinner. Close enough lah, since we wanted Japanese food. I ate a lot of sashimi today man. And they have this buttered mussels thing, and we tried it first time today, they were very nice. Yum...
Went to watch Pirates of the Caribbean after that. Man, that was a good show. Totally enjoyable. (Must post a review on it in the forum soon.) Nice day today. :D

I am very very unfit. There's a power failure in my block just now, but only affecting the lifts and corridor lights, forcing me to climb the stairs all the way up. Good thing I only live on the 8th floor. Could be a whole lot worse...but man, my legs are aching now. Maybe it's the huge plate of pasta I ate just now for dinner. Took away part of the blood circulation.
Nah. Who am I kidding? I need exercise. Argh. But the pasta was goooood.
Had an interesting tuition session earlier with a friend (YC, a fellow blogger)...turns out that he didn't really need tuition. Could do most of the questions himself anyway. Most fruitful use of the time was a heart-to-heart talk about some issues and problems.
My wallet looks empty now. Bought a new pair of specs because my current pair of specs cannot be worn to school. Bought a present for my girlfriend for our anniversary. Bought CDRs. The pasta. Whoa, I pumped a lot of money (well to me at least) into the economy. I must be patriotic. :o)

Whoa...today is a totally unproductive day. I'd meant to do work, but I managed to watch Anime, chat with friends on MSN messenger and ICQ, played Yahoo games (that wasted a lot of time), and every other thing except doing my work. I think I'm taking my holidays too literally. In fact, it isn't a holiday. There are more deadlines due after this break than before it.
It's 1.29 am on my clock now. And I'm only a quarter way through my essay which I had bravely told myself that I would finish it before I go to sleep tonight. Hmmm...either I compromise my silly proclamation or the sleep.
I dunno about blogging being addictive or not, but it's not bad as a means of venting thoughts.
Sigh. It's good weather to be sleeping now. Rain rain go away...come again another day.

My baby step towards embracing new technology. Friends say blogging is addictive...guess I'll try and disprove them. Haha... :P (For clarification's sake, any post that appears earlier than this one is ported over from another site I maintain a journal and backdated, therefore the comment about embracing new technology.)
This blogging thing is quite interesting huh? We come online post blogs as if writing a journal, but strangely it's for all to see. It's weird...it's like we can be so protective over our diaries, and here we are, announcing our thoughts, musings and contemplations to the world.
