Wow...it's been so long since I last blogged here. Yesterday, a disaster struck out of nowhere. Part of Nicoll highway the size of a football field collapsed. And the road sank to about 5 m deep. The thing is that it was so close to my house. So much so that when I came home yesterday, the smell of gas permeated the air, and everyone was wondering if there was a gas leak from a house along the corridor or something. Although the death toll right now is 1, the event is big-scale enough to warrant major consequences. The strange thing is even though the site is at most a hundred plus metres from where I stay, I remain unfazed by it. The thought of my house possibly being on unstable ground did not even occur to me until my mum mentioned it.
This will be interesting though. I wonder what kind of uproar we will see regarding MRT works now. And I eagerly anticipate the report on the exact causes of the collapse. I am very, very curious as to what exactly went wrong. On the other hand, I'll pray for the 3 missing persons whenever I can. Life is so fragile.
